Are you completely terrified of dental procedures and wish you never had to go back to the dentist? Well, Dr. Carp, Dr. Oh, Dr. Yu, and Dr. Goldwater hate to see their patients afraid to see them, so that’s why we offer sleep dentistry in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
Sleep dentistry, also known as sedation dentistry, is a method your dentist at Carp Dental uses to make all of your fears wash away. We understand that the procedures performed can be a bit scary, but we are happy to help you by providing sedatives to keep you completely relaxed throughout your visit.
There are three different types of sedation; these include:
- Oral Sedation: Oral sedation is a sedative provided in pill form. You will take it prior to coming into the office. This will help you feel calm and at ease while your dentist provides the needed treatments to improve your oral health.
- Nitrous Oxide: Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a sedative that is mixed with oxygen. Your dentist will have you inhale the nitrous oxide through a small mask that is placed over your nose. This will make you feel a little tingly and light headed, but it will not cause you to fall asleep.
- IV Sedation: IV sedation is a sedative that is inserted into the vein through an IV. This makes the effects of the sedative stronger and activate more quickly.
