Plaque and bacterial deposits that aren’t cleared away by your daily routine can lead to a gradual increase in acids in your mouth. In time, the acid can start to demineralize your tooth enamel, causing a cavity to develop on one of your teeth.

If you have noticed sensitivity or any abnormality with one of your teeth, you need to have it examined by one of our caring dentists, before the tooth decay increases. At your appointment, our doctor can examine your tooth to determine the severity of the cavity. Once this is done they will talk with you about your treatment options.

In a case in which only a small area of tooth enamel has been affected our doctor might be able to treat the tooth with a dental filling. This treatment process starts with numbing the tooth before removing the area of compromised tooth enamel. This will create a clean healthy surface for the filling material.

Most dental fillings are made from either a metal amalgam or composite resin. Once the material has been applied and shaped, our doctor will harden it with a special ultraviolet light. This will effectively bond the dental filling to the surrounding tooth enamel to complete the treatment process.

If you live in the Norristown, Pennsylvania, area and you suspect a cavity is developing on one of your teeth, you should call 610-275-1565 to have it examined and treated at Carp Dental. Dr. Brian Carp and associates are here for your smile!
